Dr. Ann Bynum Honored with the 2026 Kumar Patel Prize in Laser Surgery

We are thrilled to share some exciting news: our very own Dr. Ann Bynum has been named a 2026 recipient of the Kumar Patel Prize in Laser Surgery by the American Laser Study Club (ALSC) - one of the most respected honors in laser dentistry.

The Kumar Patel Prize is awarded annually at the ALSC’s national symposium to clinicians whose work has meaningfully advanced the science, education, and practice of laser surgery. Dr. Bynum was recognized specifically for her outstanding contributions to pediatric dental laser surgery education.

Dr. Bynum has been a pioneer in CO₂ laser–assisted frenectomy in Upstate South Carolina, helping hundreds of infants and children through her practice, The TOT Spot. She has also shared her expertise as a national speaker and hands-on educator, training providers across the country in evidence-based laser techniques so more families can access this life-changing care close to home.

We are so proud of Dr. Bynum and grateful to have her as part of the Holly Tree family. This recognition reflects her passion, dedication, and the countless patients and families she has served over nearly 30 years in Simpsonville.
